Hello, I don't know if you posted something or not. So far nothing is comming up. But I have melted glass with induction, however I did not actually heat the glass. We took Glass bead (sand blast media) and filled a 4" black pipe with it. The we used a 3-10 KHZ machine to heat the pipe. I would imagine this could be acomplished using an Inconel pipe for its properties at high tempretures for more of a permanent set up.
I would imagine that glass is not going to be easy to heat on its own. (I put glasses in the microwave all the time) The glass does not really get hot, only the contents. |

Loris, have you considered using Graphite? We had an application where sand was being melted and turned into glass. We used graphite as the form or "mould". The results were good, and adherence to the graphite was not a problem. I don't recall the temperature right now that we ran at, but I know it was in excess of 3000 degrees F. regards from Sherlock |

Sherlock, In regards to Graphite. Thermally it should be good to about 5000 degrees F. I have used Graphite rods to hold Rheenium (SP?) Rings that we heated to 4000 degrees F in argon (its one of my pictures). |
